RENO — At 3:53 p.m. Monday, Reno firefighters responded to a structure fire at a single-family residence located at 5 Sunnyside Drive.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the attic, keeping it from spreading and causing further damage.

“Through a coordinated attack with roof ventilation and interior attack lines crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and keep the property damage to a minimum,” Battalion Chief Sandy Munns said.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire. Several dogs were in the residence, but firefighters and neighbors were able to safely rescue them. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
