RENO — On Saturday, the Reno Police Department partnered with the Greater Harvest Church of Reno and hosted a community outreach function titled “Day of Fun” for youth and young adults in the northeast community. This outreach effort is a follow up to a series of community action projects stemming from work done in that community over the last three years. The Reno Police Department displayed a variety of equipment used in day-to-day operations and also had officers from the Regional Gang Unit and Senior Volunteers who shared information on many departmental programs that are specifically designed with a community interactive component.

About 500 guests attended the event, which offered a free barbecue, clothing and other resources to those in need. Several festivities focused on families also were provided that included face painting, games, prizes and a football and basketball tournament.

The Reno Police Department and the Greater Harvest Church will continue their efforts to partner with the community for these outreach events in the future.
