RENO — Police changed their investigation of a June 27 shooting to a murder after the victim died on Monday.

Michael Jones was shot at about 1:40 a.m. during a fight in the Douglas Alley after a concert at the Knitting Factory in the 200 block of N. Virginia Street. A group of men got into a fight when someone fired a handgun, striking Jones several times.

Officers detained Lamar Woods, who was seen running from the scene after the shooting. Woods was found in possession of a stolen handgun and arrested for weapons-related charges as well as a probation violation. Detectives are trying to determine if Woods was involved in or responsible for the shooting.

Anyone with information about this shooting is encouraged to call the Robbery/Homicide Division at 334-2115 or 334-2188, or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
