The current battle is over the need to raise the borrowing limit for the national debt, a subject that never seemed to bother the GOP when George W. Bush raised the debt some eight trillion dollars in seven separate debt ceiling raises. The GOP is holding the debt limit hostage to next year’s budget, which, strategically they have failed to produce timely for Congress to implement with the appropriate appropriations. Failing such action the government will once more depend on “Continuing Resolutions” next fall, offering the saboteurs further opportunities to undermine the Obama programs during
the election year.
This a time tested tactic from last year, when the same political terrorists failed to pass any of the thirteen separate spending bills necessary, forcing government to operate on the obsolete money limits of 2010, a budget passed before Obama took office. Thus, by stalling the new spending measures the GOP were able to block funding for nearly all of the health care plan, finance reforms and environmental regs, none of which existed in the 2010 funding. This tactic allows the republicans to claim that Obama has failed to deliver on his promises throughout the campaign, while blocking any progress by continued hostile limits on each continuing resolution for the duration.
Aside from their treacherous tactics in risking the entire U.S. future as the world’s leading economy, the willingness to destroy the governmental ability to serve the needs of the American people speaks volumes about their real loyalties. Service to the rich and the powerful in the Capitalist system is the mission of the new right wing, who have taken control of the party in the name of constitutional government, which they are eagerly destroying.
If Obama cannot solve this quandary by August, and the predicted economic collapse, both here at home and overseas, materializes this fall, the rise of the neo fascist lackeys of the billionaire class will punish us all for years to come. The entire disaster will be laid at the feet of the president and the failure of democrats to fight back against the subversive plotting of the right wing.
About all we can do is try and avoid the re-write of history that the media and their corporate masters will attempt to sell us as things fall apart. Don’t fall for it, and tell your children who’s to blame for the growing desperation of their lives.
