RENO — In response to recent incidents of violence in the downtown area, the Reno Police Department will increase its uniform, specialty and undercover enforcement for the next few weeks. During this operational time, the multi-faceted approach will focus on targeted and aggressive enforcement of behaviors that contribute to violence. Officers in uniform will provide high visibility patrols while motor and traffic officers will focus on traffic and DUI enforcement. At various times and locations, plain clothes officers will be utilized to conduct undercover operations, again targeting behaviors contributing to violence and individuals intent on creating disturbances and causing violence.
The results of the operation will be analyzed on a weekly basis to determine effectiveness. This operation has the flexibility and adaptability built into it and will be adjusted as warranted or necessary. At the conclusion of the operational period, the department will release the results of the operation to the public.
