The Great Basin is unique in its vegetation and resources and the BLM takes great care in ensuring public resources are available now and for future generations. The BLM seeks public assistance in keeping public resources available by taking extra precautions this summer to ensure a fire safe season.
The BLM’s Elko Fire Station personnel will be participating in the Elko Basque Festival parade on Saturday after which they will be available in the Main City Park along with Smokey Bear to provide fire-prevention tips and information. Come and learn how to keep your home safe this fire season, about the dangers of illegal fireworks or improperly maintained vehicles and equipment.
The BLM fire crews will also be present in Carlin and Wells city parks at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Smokey Bear is guaranteed to visit each venue and provide opportunities to learn how to enjoy a fire safe summer.
