RENO — Police officers shot a man Wednesday after he allegedly aimed his own gun at them on Crown View Drive.

At 7:11 p.m., officers with the Reno Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1000 block of Crown View Drive where they found a white man standing on the driveway with a firearm. The officers retreated and established a perimeter. The man allegedly pointed the weapon at the officers who then returned fire, striking the man in the torso. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment and examination. His injury was listed as serious. The officers were not injured. The man’s identity is being withheld at this time and he is only described as a white male adult in his late 20s.

Washoe County Regional Officer Involved Shooting Team was requested to investigate the shooting. Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigating agency. The Reno Police Department and Sparks Police Department are also part of the team and are assisting in the investigation. Additional information will be released as the investigation unfolds.
