Teen seriously hurt in bicycle accident

GARDNERVILLE — A 16-year-old is in critical condition after being struck by a moving vehicle while riding his bicycle.

At about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nevada Highway Patrol was dispatched to a serious bicycle accident at Industrial Way.

The preliminary accident investigation details indicate that Kody Lance Wilson, a Gardnerville resident, was riding a bicycle southbound on U.S. Highway 395 in the center turn lane. Wilson crossed into the southbound travel lanes striking a Nevada Department of Transportation vehicle driven by Ed Shope. The juvenile sustained serious injuries and was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight and is still being treated.
