RENO — A man was taken to the hospital after a shooting in the early morning hours of Monday.

At 1:40 a.m., Reno police officers responded to the Douglas Alley in the 200 block of North Virginia Street after hearing shots being fired in the area. Responding officers located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim is listed in serious but stable condition.

The investigation suggests the shooting occurred after a concert ended at the Knitting Factory located at 211 N. Virginia St. A group of men got into a fight with the victim, during which the suspect discharged several rounds from a handgun, striking the victim multiple times.

Officers were able to detain an individual, identified as Lamar Woods, 29, who was seen running from the scene after the shooting. Woods was found in possession of a stolen handgun and was arrested for weapons-related charges as well as probation violation. Detectives are trying to determine if Woods was involved in or responsible for the shooting.

Detectives also are reviewing surveillance videos from the area of the shooting to try to identify the shooting suspect and his companions.

It is believed there were possibly a number of witnesses who might have seen the shooting. Anyone with information about this shooting is encouraged to call the Robbery/Homicide Division at 334-2115 or 334-2188, or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
