RENO — Waste Management (WM) announced Monday that the third quarterly Residential Dump Days to be held in 2011 will be this weekend at the WM transfer stations in Reno.

The dates for this event are Saturday and Sunday. Residential Dump Days are held solely at the transfer stations in Reno since the Lockwood Landfill is closed on weekends.

In an effort to assist residents with household cleanups and curb illegal dumping, WM will be offering reduced residential rates for municipal solid waste (MSW) at both transfer stations in Reno. In addition, identified materials commonly associated with illegal dumping will be accepted at no charge. These specific items include eligible household appliances (Freon-free refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves, dishwashers and washers/dryers) and eligible bulky waste (sofas, chairs, mattresses and box springs). Any material that falls outside of these parameters will be accepted at more than half off the regular gate rate.

The reduced dump rates are the result of a partnership between WM and Washoe County government to develop a program that helps residents clean up their homes and communities and, in turn, decrease the amount of illegal dumping in the area.

The WM transfer station locations and hours are:

• 1390 E. Commercial Row in Reno. Open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

• 13890 Mt. Anderson Road in Reno. Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

For more information, call WM at 329-8822 or (866) 844-1508, or visit www.thinkgreen.com or www.wm.com.
