A Bike Sale and Swap will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the new location at 2500 Valley Road, Suite A, in Reno. Consign all things bikes — working or not. Bike accessories, bike parts, bike attire and anything else for your ride will be on sale, with 20 percent of selling price going directly to the Kiwanis bikes program and the rest to the seller.
Unsold items must be picked up between 4 and 5 p.m. the day of the sale. All items not picked up by 5 p.m. become property of Kiwanis.
There also will be a kids fair with face painting and games.
The program’s new space has 7,000 additional square feet of much-needed space, a greatly expanded parking area and additional service hours, enabling Kiwanis to donate more refurbished bikes to youth.
In 2010, 1,100 bikes and helmets were donated, more than 650 hours of hands on instruction was given to children to learn how to fix bikes and 2,500 children participated in safe riding programs.
