RENO — On Monday April 25 the Gold Ranch Casino at 350 Interstate 80 West near Verdi was robbed by a suspect who fled from the area. The Reno Police Department (RPD) arrested two people Thursday for the commission of this armed robbery.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation after the incident and with the assistance of the Gold Ranch Casino were able to identify a possible suspect. Police investigators developed a second suspect through intelligence files and known associations. One of the defendants, Edward Lozano, was an on-duty employee of Gold Ranch at the time of the crime. The other defendant, Joshua Kimbell, is Lozano’s associate. During the investigation, detectives also noted highly suspicious financial transactions by both men.

On Thursday, RPD Detectives and the Patrol Crime Suppression Team detained Lozano and Kimbell at separate downtown hotels, and located some money from the robbery on both. After executing several search warrants in Reno and Sparks, detectives recovered a substantial amount of the cash stolen in the robbery. Both men were arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department Robbery/Homicide Unit at 334-2188 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
