RENO — John Hester lined a walk-off double to center field, capping a four-run, ninth-inning rally that propelled the Reno Aces to a 6-5 win over the Sacramento River Cats Friday night at Aces Ballpark.

Sacramento jumped ahead with three runs in the third, and its pitching held Reno at bay until the home half of the ninth. Trailing 5-2 entering the final frame, the Aces scored four runs without making an out, giving Reno its first walk-off win of the season. The Aces used three hits, a hit by pitch and a walk to set the stage for Hester, who provided the heroics with his second double of the game.

Matt Torra (1-1) started for Reno but did not figure in the decision, allowing four earned runs on nine hits in five innings of work. Daniel Stange, Ron Mahay and Jason Urquidez kept Reno in the game, with Urquidez (1-0) earning the win with 1.2 scoreless innings.

Travis Banwart kept Reno in check through seven innings but took a no-decision, giving up just three hits and one earned run while striking out five. Joe Bateman (1-1) suffered the loss for the River Cats, allowing all four Aces runs in the ninth.

Cody Ransom hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth, and Hester finished two-for-four with two RBIs and a run scored. David Winfree and Brandon Allen chipped in with RBI singles in the ninth, setting the stage for Hester's walk-off double.

The win gave Reno a series split and tied the inaugural Classic Car Wager at two games apiece. The winning city of the season series between Reno and Sacramento will earn the right to display a classic car from the losing city's collection for three months.

The Aces hit the road Saturday, when they open a four-game series at Chukchansi Park in Fresno. Aces RHP Micah Owings (2-0, 2.70 ERA) will get the ball in the series opener, while the Grizzlies will counter with RHP Shane Loux (0-2, 3.72 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and all the action can be heard live in Reno on Fox Sports Radio 630 AM or online at RenoAces.com.
