Officer stops man trying to steal a jacket

RENO — A man was arrested Sunday for trying to beat up another man and steal his jacket.

At 6:31 p.m. Sunday, a Reno police officer was called to the 200 block of East Fourth Street by security officers regarding a fight. Officer Lance Tindell saw a male suspect physically attacking another man who appeared defenseless. Tindell immediately intervened, subduing the attacker, who physically resisted the officer.

Further investigation revealed the attacker, 21-year-old Eric Sutter of Reno, was attempting to steal the victim’s jacket.

Sutter was arrested for one count of attempted robbery, one count of battery with intent to commit robbery and one count of physically resisting a police officer.
