RENO — The Reno Police Department has received two cases during the last two weeks involving residential thefts, where two suspects are approaching residents and asking to clean their house for a small amount of cash. The residents are then finding several items stolen from the house after the suspects leave.

The first incident occurred on Feb. 12 at about 2:30 p.m., on Rauscher Drive which is near West Seventh Street and Heights Drive. The two suspects approached the resident and asked to clean their house for $40. The suspects said they needed the money to buy medication for their daughter. The suspects were given entry into the home where they later removed a phone, camera and cash.

The second incident occurred on Feb. 16 at about 3:45 p.m. on Majestic Drive near West Seventh and Keystone Avenue. The suspects again approached the resident and asked to clean the house for money, and after entry was made, they made off with a wedding ring. Again the suspect used the reason of needing cash to aid their small child.

This news release is being sent to make residents aware of the thefts, and to provide awareness to prevent further incidents. The public is encouraged to avoid letting strangers into their homes, and if you suspect suspicious activity, report it to the proper agency.

The first suspect is described as a dark-skinned male between 30 and 35 years old. He is about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The second suspect is described as a black female between 30 and 35 years old. She is about 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds and has black hair.

Secret Witness is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspects wanted in connection with the thefts.

The investigation is on-going and anyone with additional information about this incident is asked to call the Reno Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit at 334-2115 or the Secret Witness at 322-4900.
