RENO — On Sunday, officers from the Reno Police Department responded to the Peppermill Casino Resort on the report of an armed robbery that occurred outside the casino, where the suspect had produced a sawed off weapon and demanded money from the victim.

Officers arrived and met with the victim who was waiting in the security office. The victim stated that he was confronted by the suspect inside the casino, and the suspect asked for help changing a tire in the parking lot. The victim agreed and they both exited the casino. The suspect then produced the weapon and demanded the victim’s property and cash. The suspect fled the area on foot, and was not located by officers. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

On Monday, an officer patrolling in the area of 7695 S. Virginia St. observed a suspect matching the description of the one listed in the robbery. The suspect was detained and found to have a similar weapon on his person. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Henry Barro was interviewed, and later arrested for armed robbery, ex-felon possession in of a firearm and unlawful possession of a short barreled rifle.

Barro also was wanted for questioning in other Reno cases involving a stolen vehicle, and a recent vehicle burglary. The suspect was interviewed on these cases, and was also charged with grand theft auto and vehicle burglary.

Barro’s bail is set at $22,000.

The investigation is still on-going and anyone with additional information about these incidents is asked to call the Reno Police Department’s Detectives Division at 334-2115 or the Secret Witness at 322-4900.
