RENO — On Sunday at about 6:30 p.m., Reno police officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Kietzke Lane. Upon arrival, officers met with the 83-year-old victim who said he was at his house when a relative, identified as 20-year-old Bryce Weiss, arrived at about 3:30 p.m. and started demanding money and the victim’s wallet at knife point. When the victim refused, Weiss taped him to a chair and put him in a closet. Weiss then left with the victim’s vehicle as well as his wallet. After about two or three hours the victim was able to free himself and went to a neighbor’s to call the police. The victim did not require any medical attention.

At about 11:40 p.m., officers responded to a rollover accident in the 1200 block of North Virginia Street. They realized it was the vehicle taken in the earlier robbery and they arrested the defendant for numerous charges. Weiss was not compliant with officers but was taken into custody. He was treated for injuries he sustained in the traffic accident and booked into the Washoe County jail. Weiss is charged with kidnapping, armed robbery, grand larceny auto, burglary with deadly weapon with elderly enhancement arrest and addition pending charges.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department Robbery/Homicide unit at 334-2188 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
