SPARKS — Huntington Learning Centers in the Sparks area supported Catholic Schools Week 2011, which took place Jan. 30 through Feb. 5. The week recognizes Catholic schools in America as an important part of United States education because of their traditionally high academic standards and high graduation rates.

Catholic Schools Week became an annual event in 1974.

“Huntington believes firmly in giving students the best education possible, and we honor and support all schools who also embrace the same principles about quality education,” Eileen Huntington, co-founder of Huntington Learning Center, said in a press release. “Catholic schools demonstrate high standards of excellence through their dedication to giving students first-rate academic preparation as well as a strong moral education. As community members, Huntington Learning Centers are proud to partner with schools, including Catholic schools in the Sparks area.”

Each year, Huntington supports local and national school and education events, including Read Across America, Mathematics Awareness Month, Teacher Appreciation Week and American Education Week.

Founded in 1977, Huntington Learning Center is the nation’s longest-running supplemental education services provider.
