The Railroaders would like to forget about their first quarter at Truckee Friday night. Picking up a 54-47 come-from-behind league win certainly helps erase the bad memory.

Sparks boys basketball coach Mike Jones said the team came out in a zone, but was pretty stagnant in it, so he switched up things. Going to man-to-man defense helped change the game to the Railroaders' preferred tempo.

The Maroon and Gold was down by six after one quarter and cut the deficit to four by halftime. But it was the third quarter that launched Sparks ahead when it outscored the Wolverines 15-5.

Xavier Rodriguez led Sparks with a season-high 22 points and Martin Jordan contributed 13 to the winning cause.

"He's starting to find his spots. He's been scoring more. He's running our team at the point guard spot." Jones said of Rodriguez. "He's settling in pretty nicely and becoming a real asset."

Sparks (10-5, 4-1) is back in action Tuesday night at home against Incline.
