SPARKS — On Tuesday at 10:49 a.m., Sparks police received a 911 phone call from a cell phone, where a female caller was screaming for help and male could be heard yelling he was going to kill the female. Officers narrowed the incident down to 1686 Sue Way.  Officers tried for several minutes to get the occupants to answer the door when an officer spotted a male and female in the back of the house and got them to answer the door.  The female was visibly battered and said her boyfriend had stabbed her.  Police spoke to the boyfriend, 18-year-old Jonathan Hanes, in the residence and he was detained.

The victim had two stab wounds and told police she had been battered and abused during the past three days. The victim told officers she had been physically beaten, strangled and burned, and marks on her body corroborated her allegations. The female was transported by ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center. Her injuries do not appear life threatening.

Hanes has been charged with domestic battery with the use of a deadly weapon, child endangerment, domestic battery strangulation and obstructing officers. The couples 1-year-old son was in the house during the three days of violence, which constituted the child endangerment charge.
