Sheriff’s office investigating a battery report

SUN VALLEY — The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a battery with a deadly weapon that occurred at the 7-11 located at 5700 Sun Valley Blvd. between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

The victim, Jorge Luis Netro-Hernandez, had a puncture wound to his abdomen.

Netro-Hernandez said he was verbally and physically confronted by a black male as he exited his vehicle in front of the 7-11. According to Netro-Hernandez, the suspect asked him for some money but he told the man that he did not have any money to spare. Netro-Hernandez said he got into a verbal dispute with the suspect and he produced a 3 to 4 inch edged-weapon and stabbed Netro-Hernandez once in the abdomen.

Netro-Hernandez said the suspect fled on foot and is described as a black male adult, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighting about 140 to 150 pounds with short hair or shaved head. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The weapon used was an unknown type edged-weapon with about a 3 to 4 inch blade.
