Police look into two robberies

SPARKS — The Sparks Police Department currently is investigating two robberies that occurred within the city. 

The first robbery occurred on Oct. 9. Larry Cooper arrived at his home in the 3100 block of Fourth Street shortly after 10 p.m. He was confronted by two males who forced him into his residence at gunpoint. Once inside, Cooper and his 15-year-old brother were bound and held at gunpoint by one of the suspects while the other ransacked the residence. No one was injured and the suspects left the scene after taking several items. 

On Nov. 18, Yaljifer Kafei was at his home in the 2500 block of Maxine Circle when at about 11:30 p.m. he heard commotion outside. Kafei opened the door to investigate and was confronted by two armed men who attempted to force their way inside. Kafei was able to block the door with a piece of furniture to prevent the suspects from entering.

The suspects in both robberies were described as black male adults. The first suspect is described as 20 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. During one of the robberies he wore a red baseball hat with a “St. Louis” logo on it. The second suspect is described as being 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. 

Detectives believe that the two incidents are related. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Danny James at 353-2225 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
