Yakki is a herding dog by breed, very active and smart and ready to go at a moment’s notice. She would love to be with someone who understands the herding characteristics and would do best in a home where she can be your only pet. Yakki is looking for someone who likes having fun as much as she does. Contact the Nevada Humane Society for more details or to meet Yakki.

Home 4 the Holidays Pet Adoption Drive

Through Jan. 2, help NHS find homes for 1,200 orphaned animals this holiday season. Adopt adult cats for $25 and adult dogs for $45 (4 months and older, excluding specially priced dogs). Kittens cost $50 to adopt and adoptions in the Seniors-for-Seniors program are free (seniors are people age 55 and older and pets age 6 years and older).

Last year, NHS found homes for 1,000 pets during the five-week Home 4 the Holidays adoption drive. This year the drive is a week longer with the goal of finding loving homes for over 1,200 pets, and with so many more pets in need this year, adoptions are critically needed.

Pet adopters will spin the Holiday Wheel of FURtune and save money on the already low adoption fees, win prizes or even receive a free pet adoption (excluding a few specially priced dogs). Anyone who adopts a pet by 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 will be entered into a raffle to win a big screen TV or a kid’s Baja Motorsports BA50 50cc ATV.

The Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The shelter is located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno. For more information, call 856-2000 or visit www.nevadahumanesociety.org.
