RENO - The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested a total of 26 people in the Reno-Sparks area over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Eleven motorists were taken to jail for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, while 12 more were arrested for outstanding traffic-related and other misdemeanor warrants. The remaining three were a result of traffic-related offenses, including reckless driving or driving on a suspended or revoked driver’s license.

Last year on this holiday weekend, a total of 24 motorists were arrested in the Reno-Sparks area. Fourteen were for DUI, five for having outstanding warrants and five for traffic-related offenses.

As for the crash activity throughout the northern Nevada region over the past four days, troopers investigated a total of 47 motor vehicle collisions. Twenty-seven were in the greater Reno-Sparks area, eight near Fernley, four in the Carson City district and eight on the highways in Douglas County. Most of the collisions involved property damage only and there were no highway fatality accidents this holiday weekend.

To report a highway emergency, suspected DUI driver or a stranded motorist broken down along the highway, motorists should dial *NHP (*647).
