Saturday at 9:20 p.m., 29-year-old Jesus Salinas of Alhambra, Calif., was driving a silver 1997 Chevy SUV northbound on U.S. 395 north of Parr Boulevard in icy conditions. Salinas lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the east side of the road. The vehicle rolled, ejecting Salinas who was no wearing a seat belt. The SUV came to rest with the engine compartment on top of Salinas.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to investigate the accident. The Reno Fire Department responded and rendered aid to Salinas while stabilizing the vehicle, which was partially up the embankment. Salinas was successfully extracted from the underside of the SUV. He was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center by REMSA where he is listed in stable condition.
