Free workshops during National Hospice Week

RENO — Saint Mary’s Hospice will host two free seminars to bring awareness to National Hospice and Palliative Care Week beginning Sunday.

Community members are invited to learn more about bereavement support groups, family sessions and volunteer training. Saint Mary’s Hospice will have an information booth at 645 N. Arlington St. in Reno from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Medical director Dr. Kelle Brogan also will host two free seminars called “Handling Difficult Conversations,” about talking with family members about end-of-life decisions. The first seminar will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and will include lunch. The second seminar will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will include dinner and wine service.

Both seminars will be hosted at Saint Mary’s at 645 N. Arlington Ave., Auditoriums A and B. Physician Ethics and Nursing continuing education credits are available for professionals.
