RENO — On Wednesday at about 4:30 p.m. a white male suspect entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 4045 S. Virginia St. in Reno. He approached a bank teller, announced that he was robbing the bank and demanded money. He also threatened to kill everyone and blow up the bank.

The teller complied with the suspect’s demands and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect exited the bank and was observed entering a taxi cab. A Reno Police officer arrived on scene as the taxi cab was departing the area. Witnesses directed the officer to the taxi cab. The cab was stopped by numerous police officers a short distance from the bank and the suspect was taken into custody without incident and all of the money was recovered.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation interviewed the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Paul Edward Lane and arrested him on federal bank robbery charges.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the FBI at 825-6600, the Reno Police Department Robbery and Homicide Unit at 334-2188 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
