SUN VALLEY — This Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11, the Sun Valley Neighborhood Center will celebrate the day by honoring local vets with an event scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Several activities are planned including a barbecue with hot dogs, hamburgers and refreshments.

In 2009 Washoe County’s Sun Valley Senior Services relocated to the Sun Valley Neighborhood Center located at the Sun Valley Community Park. The move enabled senior services to partner with agencies that serve Sun Valley families and residents of all ages to better coordinate and provide public services at a reduced cost. Partnering with Senior Services Center include the Washoe County Sheriff’s office, Washoe County School District’s Family Resource Center, Community Services Agency Head Start, the Sun Valley General Improvement District and several other local agencies.

The event is funded by a grant received from Generations United, the 2010 MetLife Foundation/Generations United award that was recently awarded to the WCSS Sun Valley Senior/Community Resource Center. For more information call director Grady Tarbutton at 328-6141.
