Bietz will be recognized at the Cornerstone Awards Luncheon on Nov. 12 at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno.
“I am truly honored to be recognized with this award,” Bietz said. “The Nevada Discovery Museum will play an important role in our community and I am thankful to be a part of it.”
Prior to her work with the NVDM, Bietz spent nearly 10 years working for the University of Nevada, Reno creating, directing, evaluating and enhancing the comprehensive annual giving programs for the university.
Bietz began her role as director of development for NVDM in June 2006. Since that time, she has assisted in developing, implementing and successfully completing a $19.6 million capital campaign. Her efforts have allowed for construction and renovation to begin on the former Reno City Hall, turning it into the future home of eight interactive exhibits aimed at children. Bietz has been involved in all aspects of the project, working with developers, construction and design companies, the board of directors and donors.
To help raise ongoing operational costs, the NVDM recently launched the Dream Builders’ Club, targeted at businesses and professionals who are interested in giving $10,000 or more.
