In spite of the hardships of the overland migration, emigrants did make time for fun. Flutes and fiddles were common on the California Trail and dances were a popular recreational activity after long, dull days of walking. Music and dance were an important way of joining with others to share memories of home and forget the worries of the journey for a while.
The California Trail Center is available for scheduled school groups and private tours. For more information, call 738-1849.
