On Saturday at about 8 p.m., Reno police officers responded to an accident the intersection of West Seventh Street and McDonald Drive. The pedestrian, Reno resident Hermina Godbey, had been crossing West Seventh Street southbound at McDonald in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle that was going east on West Seventh Street. The driver, 61-year-old Reno resident Mark Hall, failed to yield the right of way to her. Godbey died at the scene.
Several witnesses and Hall cooperated in the police investigation. Hall said he did not see Godbey in the roadway. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the accident, according to police.
No arrests were made at the scene pending the outcome of the investigation.
Anyone with additional information about the accident is encouraged to call Reno Police Department Traffic Detective Jerry Follett at 657-4758 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
