RENO — Nevada Farm Service Agency executive director Clint Koble is seeking public comment on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Regional Biofuels Roadmap. The USDA, the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency are coordinating the federal government’s efforts on this first comprehensive biofuels market development program.

A meeting to collect public comments will be held Nov. 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nevada State Health Division, 4150 Technology Way, Room 303 in Carson City.

“The primary objective of this meeting is to collect input on the challenges, opportunities and barriers for the development of a successful biofuels market that will achieve or surpass the current U.S. Renewable Fuels Standards (RFS2),” Koble said. “Comments collected during this meeting or submitted in writing will be compiled in a report to USDA and will also to serve as a roadmap for biofuel development in Nevada.”

The USDA Biofuels Report is available online at

Carlo Luri of Bently Biofuels in Minden will be the keynote speaker at the meeting, discussing biofuel development on national and state levels. Other speakers and panel discussions also are planned.

“The Obama Administration is aggressively supporting our nation’s farmers, ranchers and producers of biofuels as they work to bring greater energy independence to America,” Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said in a press release about the program.

The public is invited to the meeting or to send written comments. To submit written comments or to RSVP for the meeting, contact Mark Williams at or 887-1222 ext. 116; or Annie Rossi at or 784-5411 ext. 100.
