Stars, mental health align for food drive

RENO — The Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center at the University of Nevada, Reno is teaming up with Mojave Mental Health, a clinical practice of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, to host a food drive for clients in need in advance of the holidays.

The food drive will be held Nov. 13 to 16 at the planetarium. Visitors who bring a nonperishable food item during the drive will receive $1 off admission to any full-dome film or digital star show.

Mojave Mental Health provides medication management, therapy, case management and adult day treatment for Medicaid FFS recipients and is part of the University Health System, the clinical practice of physicians, researchers and educators of the University of Nevada School of Medicine who provide care to more than 120,000 patients annually throughout Nevada.

Planetarium hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Tuesday; noon to 9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The planetarium is closed but available for field trips and events Wednesday and Thursday. For a full schedule of shows and showtimes during the food drive, visit or call 784-4812.

The planetarium is located north of Lawlor Events Center on Virginia and 16th streets, on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Free parking is available in the West Stadium Parking Complex, level three, just east of the planetarium.
