SPARKS — The Sparks Police Department welcomes the public to visit its annual open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at 1701 E. Prater Way.
Sparks citizens are invited to come and learn about their police department, meet some of the men and women that serve the community every day and see some of the resources officers use to keep the community safe.
Staff will lead tours of the department, where the public can see the 9-1-1 emergency communications center, the detective division, the chief's office, the evidence section, the patrol division and more.
There will be a child I.D. station set up so parents can have their children fingerprinted and photographed in case of emergencies.
The Sparks Police Department K-9 Team and the Consolidated Bomb Unit will be doing demonstrations. The Mobile Command Post, SWAT team, Mounted Unit, Traffic Division motorcycles and more will all be on display for the public to see.
