The Spanish Springs Cougars hosted High Desert League rival McQueen Tuesday night. The match marked the SSHS club's Senior Night ceremonies. A night earlier the Cougars had faced cross-town rival Reed and locked up the first outright league title in program history.

Huddling around coach Scott Hare, Spanish Springs football players let out a roar of cheers. Yes, the players were happy about just demolishing North Valleys 53-7 but they were also celebrating having clinched a spot in the Nevada Northern Division I playoffs. The loudest of the cheers came when Hare told his team that it would be playing for the High Desert League crown in its regular season finale.
