SSHS boys soccer falls; Sparks girls draw
A disappointing midseason stretch continues for the Spanish Springs boys soccer team. The Cougars opened the season with five straight wins, but since have settled for a draw and been saddled with back-to-back losses. The second of those came Wednesday night in a 3-1 road loss to Damonte Ranch in a Northern 4A crossover league match.
Reed volleyball sweeps Hug
Reed volleyball improved its winning streak to three games, making quick work of Hug in dominating fashion Tuesday night, sweeping the match in an easy three games: 25-11, 25-8, 25-12.

The Spanish Springs Cougars took the High Desert League lead in Nevada Cup points Tuesday. The lead change came in the wake of Spanish Springs winning the fifth of six HDL girls golf tournaments this fall.

After a strong start to the game that saw the Railroaders take a lead into halftime, Sparks High ran into a buzzsaw in the second half Friday night, giving up 39 points in a 51-21 loss to the Fallon Greenwave.

Even with its offense sputtering, Reed proved it was the class of Northern 4A football by riding its defense and special teams to a 40-6 road win at McQueen Friday night in a game that many marked on their calendars prior to the season.

The Reed volleyball team got off of the bus a little sluggish when it traveled to McQueen, but woke up in time to put together a furious rally anode come back from a two games down deficit to win Thursday’s conference clash, 18-25, 24-26, 25-15, 25-22, 15-8.
Cougars win at Sierra Sage
The Spanish Springs girls golf team appears to be hitting its mid-season form. The Cougars finished second in the first two High Desert League tournaments of the season, but with a team win Tuesday at North Reno’s Sierra Sage Golf Course, now have back-to-back tournament team wins.
