Cougars sweep top softball honors
While the season ended earlier than most expected for the Spanish Springs Cougars softball team, the local squad had already dominated the regular season and earned the respect of fellow High Desert League coaches when it came to all-league voting time.

Briggs brings Spanish Springs into battle

By shaving off four seconds from his seeding time, he went from the sixth seed to the runner-up at the regional championships in the 800m, earning a berth to the state meet where he took third.

Winds wreak havoc at state golf
Mother Nature did not due any favors for the field on Day 2 of the 4A Boys State Golf Championships. Tuesday’s gusting winds inflated scores for most of the field and left shot-making a tough task at Reno’s Hidden Valley Country Club, the host venue for the two-day tournament.
