It was good to be in fifth period P.E. class at Shaw Middle School Tuesday. Those students got a little extra treat on their learning menu that the rest of the school’s PE students missed out on. Players from the NBA’s Developmental League put on a FIT Clinic at the Sparks school Tuesday morning, showing the fifth-period students basketball fundamentals and stressing the importance of living a physically fit lifestyle.

Returning to league play for the first time since leaving for winter break, the Spanish Springs boys basketball team could have looked like it filled the time off by eating treats and snoozing. Luckily for the Cougars, they were able to shake off the rust while host Galena remained in hibernation, grabbing a 46-26 victory Wednesday evening.
