Reno girls pull away from Spanish Springs

Reed basketball splits at Hug
The Reed boys basketball team had a good strategy against the Hug Hawks Tuesday night - get Hug’s Player of the Year candidate Sam Williams in foul trouble and reap the benefits of him sitting on the bench.
Spanish Springs boys hold off Reno
Spanish Springs finally got some consistent stops on the defensive end of the floor and then it was finally able to get a little separation. Spanish Springs gave up just two points in the final 3:30 of Tuesday night’s High Desert League contest at Reno and held on for a 56-51 win in boys prep basketball action.
Wolf Pack impressive in win over Cal Poly
With just under seven minutes left in its game against the Nevada men’s basketball team, Cal Poly went on a 17-3 run. Unfortunately for the Mustangs, the five-minute long dash started in a 25-point hole and only momentarily startled the Wolf Pack at Lawlor Events Center on Tuesday night.

Lady Railroaders fall to Hawks
The Sparks girls basketball team took the court Friday night at home against Hug with a set of familiar faces making up its roster, but a new face standing on the sideline. Initially it looked as though the Railroaders would respond well to the changes at hand, but the same problems that have become a plague for the Railroaders surfaced again as the Hawks stormed their way to a 57-29 victory.

For a large majority of its game Thursday evening in the Capital Classic Tournament in Carson City, the Sparks boys basketball team held a lead over counterpart Reed High. Unfortunately for the Railroaders, the game was a 32-minute contest rather than 29.
Cougars nearly achieve perfection
The Spanish Springs wrestling team nearly reached perfection. In its High Desert League dual meet against Hug Wednesday night, the Cougars demolished the hosts 83-0, a single point away from the highest total of 84 that a team can score in a dual.
