For nearly 50 minutes, the Spanish Springs High boys soccer team held a ticket to the Nevada Division I State Championships. Unfortunately for the Purple and Silver, Carson snatched the ticket away along with the Northern crown in heartbreaking fashion.
Reed dispatches Douglas in regional quarterfinal
A solid Reed defense stymied an explosive Douglas offense Friday night and the RHS defense did plenty to help the cause. The result was a 47-14 home win for Reed in the first round of the NIAA Division I Northern Region football playoffs Friday night.
Spanish Springs gets first playoff win
Through one quarter of play in Friday's first-round playoff match-up between Spanish Springs and Bishop Manogue, zeroes remained on the scoreboard. The question of who would advance to the Northern Division I semifinals was still up in the air. In a span of just over six minutes, the Cougars put any uncertainties to rest.
Manogue sweeps Reed out of volleyball playoffs
The Bishop Manogue volleyball squad had Reed to thank for spoiling an undefeated league season. The Miners thanked the Raiders by serving up a playoff beatdown. Manogue made sure it would not be upset in the regional semifinals for the second straight year by sweeping Reed in three games Friday night at Spanish Springs: 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.
Carson tops Spanish Springs, ends Cougars' season
After winning its first playoff game in school history, the Spanish Springs girls soccer team was looking to earn the right to play for its first regional crown. Unfortunately for the Purple and Silver, it will have to wait until next year.

As the High Desert League’s No. 2 seed, the Reed volleyball team hosted a regional quarterfinal matchup Wednesday night and protected its home court, although it took a little longer to dispatch third-seeded Douglas than expected.

The Bishop Manogue Miners are hoping they don't end the season the way they started it. Manogue kicked off its fall campaign at Spanish Springs and was handed a 58-21 shellacking. Ten weeks later, the Miners will host Spanish Springs in a first-round Division I Northern Region playoff.

After breezing its way through league play, the Spanish Springs High volleyball team opened the Nevada Northern Division I regional tournament as the No. 1 seed for the first time in school history. Slated as the top team in the tourney, the Cougars did not disappoint.

While the Cougars did not exactly cure their offensive ailments, they did manage enough to advance pass the first round of the NIAA Northern Division I playoffs Monday night.
