Wily Mo Peña homered and Matt Torra tossed a complete game to push the Aces to a 3-2 win in the opener, but Salt Lake returned the favor with a 6-5 walk-off win in the nightcap to force a doubleheader split in the finale at Spring Mobile Ballpark.

Well, the weather man was wrong on Saturday as the winds just increased during the night and the evening of racing at Rattlesnake Raceway ended with a very light rain. However, none of this deterred the drivers from staging a night of hard and wild racing.

The Spanish Springs baseball team is not making life easy on itself. The Cougars, who are fighting for postseason seeding and a home playoff game, dropped a third game in their past four outings. The losses look worse considering all three have been to teams below Spanish Springs in the Northern 4A league standings.

A day after the Reno Huskies got upset on their home field by the Reed Raiders, Reno turned the same trick against the east Sparks school. Reed captured a 4-3 victory at Reno Tuesday but Reno stormed back Wednesday to win at Reed, 10-5, in Northern 4A league prep baseball action.

The Spanish Springs Cougars are not helping their cause in trying to improve their postseason seeding. Four days after getting upset by cross-town rival Reed, a team it had already beaten three times this spring, Spanish Springs found itself on the short end of a 6-3 score at Wooster Wednesday.

LAS VEGAS— Reno put the tying and go-ahead runs on base with nobody out in the ninth, but a strikeout and ground ball double play ended the proceedings Wednesday night, as the Las Vegas 51s topped the Aces for the second-straight night, 4-3, at Cashman Field.

Reed surprises Reno
Reed is getting hot at the right time in order to keep its playoff hopes alive. After starting the Northern 4A league baseball season by winning twice in 13 contests, the Raiders have won four of their last five, including two wins in back-to-back games against a pair of teams that have spent time in first place.
