Cougars earn state golf berth
Heading into Tuesday’s second round of the Northern 4A Region Boys Golf Championships at Dayton Valley Country Club, the Spanish Springs Cougars held a 14 and 15 shot lead over Reno and Carson respectively for second place. With the top two teams advancing to next week’s state tourney, the Cougars made sure they did not lose their ticket to Las Vegas and the 4A state championships.

With second-seeded Reno trailing 4-2 and down to its final three outs against Reed — in the first round of the 4A Northern Region Baseball Tournament Tuesday — a parent was overheard talking to a former Reno High student. They agreed the Huskies had the game in hand.

Cougars slip by Lancers; Raiders down Grizz
The McQueen Lancers and Spanish Springs Cougars got locked up in an old fashioned pitchers' duel Wednesday afternoon at SSHS. In the end, it was Spanish Springs that got just enough offense to pull out a 1-0 home win in Northern 4A League prep softball action.
