Reed, SSHS baseball cap sweeps
Reed pitcher Thomas Sertic allowed three doubles that contributed to a pair of Wooster runs in the first two innings Thursday. After that, the Colts managed just an infield hit and Sertic went the distance in a 6-2 Raiders home win to sweep the season series.

Cougars standouts sign
The latest crop of Spanish Springs standout student-athletes announced their intentions to continue their athletic careers at the next level Wednesday. Four SSHS female athletes signed national letters of intent at a signing ceremony in the 12th-year school’s large gym foyer.

Two tracks start their seasons
This weekend saw a pair of tracks begin their racing year. To the east the newly renamed Reno/Tahoe/Fernley Speedway was in action Saturday evening while, on Sunday, Desert Park Raceway saw the Northern Nevada Kart Club begin its points season.

Entering Day 2 of the Reed Easter Softball Tournament, Reed and Spanish Springs looked poised to meet in the championship game as the respective No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. Unfortunately for one squad, they got to watch as the other Rail City team took the tourney title.

The Sparks baseball team split its Saturday doubleheader with South Tahoe in a battle that decided who would have the inside track at a Mount Rose League championship. Unfortunately for the Railroaders, the Vikings had already taken a game in the series, so now the Lake school is a game ahead of Sparks in the standings.
