Newell, Reed impress at track regionals
As Adrianna Newell walked around the track at Damonte Ranch High School, almost every person the Reed Raider passed stopped to congratulate her. The praise was well deserved after the Reed senior stole the show at the Northern Division I Region Track and Field Championshipsjust oin just over a combined minute and a half.

Reed knocks off Manogue, Damonte to reach regional final
The Reed softball team earned some big time wins Friday in order to stay alive at the Division I Northern Region Tournament. The Raiders knocked off Bishop Manogue 3-1 and Damonte Ranch 2-0 to earn a date with Douglas Saturday for the right to represent the North at state.

Reed knocks Spanish Springs out of softball playoffs
The Spanish Springs Cougars saw their season end Thursday afternoon after their arch rival, Reed, pulled out some late-game heroics. Reed broke up a scoreless pitchers' duel with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to capture a 3-0 triumph in a loser-out game at the Division I North Softball Tournament.

Reed baseball eliminated in heartbreaker
For the majority of its elimination game against Damonte Ranch Thursday night, the Reed baseball team looked as though it would live to play another day. One mistake and a subsequent swing of the bat suddenly put that in jeopardy. Another swing ended the Raiders’ run.

Reno cruises past Spanish Springs, 7-2
The Reno baseball team couldn’t get anything going against Spanish Springs when the Huskies were swept during the regular season. That was not the case in the two team’s regional playoff clash Wednesday night.

Reed lives to fight another day
A day after struggling in a lopsided playoff loss to Galena, the Reed softball team showed it knows how to bounce back. The Raiders put up four runs in the first inning of their regional tournament playoff game Wednesday and never trailed en route to a 6-4 win over Reno.

Reed softball humbled in playoff loss
The Reed High softball team picked a bad time to turn in one of its worst performances in recent history. The Raiders were far from stellar at the plate, on the mound or in the field. The end result was High Desert League champion and No. 1 seed Reed was saddled with a 7-0 home loss to No. 4 seeded Galena in a Division I North Regional Softball Tournament first-round contest Tuesday.

Wood, Perera qualify for state boys golf
Bishop Manogue made the Resort at RedHawk its home away from home for two days and blitzed the boys golf field en route to a regional championship. Protecting a five-stroke lead after Day 1, the Miners left the competition in their dust by totaling a 370 in the second round, helped by individual medalist Harrison Holetz‘s 70.

Reno dumps Reed baseball into losers' bracket
Coming off an impressive sweep to close its regular season, the Reed baseball team seemed to be peaking at just the right time as it headed into its playoff opener at Reno. However, the Huskies halted the Raiders’ postseason-climb before it even began.

Cougars win regional tournament opener
The old adage says big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games. Spanish Springs senior Brette Lawrence is widely considered one of the top prep players in the state and on Tuesday she showed why -- on the big stage.

Starley leads Reed into regionals
All baseball players seem to have a routine when stepping into the batter’s box. Whether it’s a readjustment of batting gloves, drawing a line in the dirt or tapping the corners of home plate, nearly every batter has a habit. Cool, cloudy weather set the stage for another evening of action packed racing at Rattlesnake Raceway on Saturday evening. It featured everything from crashing and banging to a driver enjoying her first victory.

Raiders split doubleheader at Reno
With the High Desert League title already wrapped up and coming off of a loss to Damonte Ranch, the Reed softball team was hoping to build some momentum for the postseason with its season finale at Reno Saturday. However, a split with the Huskies left the Raiders looking for more as they prepare for the playoffs.

Cougars finish regular season in fine fashion
There are good ways to go out on Senior Day and then there's what the Spanish Springs softball team did. The SSHS gang rolled to a doubleheader sweep at home over North Valleys Saturday afternoon, posting a pair of mercy-rule shortened victories, 16-0 and 10-0.
