HDL golf tees off at WildCreek
The Spanish Springs girls golf team passed their first league test with flying colors. The Cougars won the first High Desert League girls golf tournament of the fall season, posting a team total of 339 to edge out McQueen Tuesday at WildCreek Golf Course.

Goal Oriented
From 2006 to 2008 the Reed girls soccer team won three straight Nevada 4A North State Championships, establishing itself as one of the premiere programs in the state’s prep soccer history. Recently however, the Lady Raiders have struggled to return to the peak of the mountain they once ascended. Surprisingly, Reed coach Jason Saville said the team is not focused on achieving that task.

The Reed High football program plodded along through the 1980s and ‘90s with a few playoff teams and a rare elite team. Still, for every elite team in that stretch, there was a cellar dweller as well. Reed watched Wooster and McQueen dominate the North year after year during that stretch.

Spanish Springs ready for fresh start after disastrous ‘11
When Scott Hare took the reins of the Spanish Springs High School football program, the initial inclination was promising for the program. Following Hare’s opening season in 2006 in which the team went winless, the Cougars improved their record each subsequent season. A 4-5 season in 2007 was followed by 6-4 and 7-4 campaigns in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Then as Spanish Springs seemed to be getting closer and closer to reaching the pinnacle...
