Sparks Centennial builds toward initiative Last June the Sparks Centennial Little League board put in place its ‘2,017 by 2017’ initiative in hopes of increasing the number of boys and girls playing baseball and softball in the Rail City to over 2,000 by the year 2017. Reed softball sees season end An offensive drought brought the Reed High softball team's season to an untimely end in the D-1 State Softball Tournament at UNLV Friday night. Reed managed just six hits against Palo Verde's No. 3 pitcher and the result was a 4-1 loss in a losers' bracket battle against the Sunset Region's No. 2 seed.
