DI North football honors released
Nevada’s DI prep football season came to a close with last Saturday’s state title game between Reed and Bishop Gorman and local all-league teams were released soon after. Both Reed and Spanish Springs advanced to the playoffs this season and both squads were well recognized.
Spanish Springs trounces Wooster
There was no doubt which was the better boys basketball team at Spanish Springs Tuesday night. One team had played four games, the other had not played any. One team suits up one of the top players in the region. The other does not. One team started red-hot shooting from the field while the other did anything but.
SSHS girls push win streak to five
A slow start didn't stop the Spanish Springs girls basketball team from eventually grabbing the momentum and pulling away for a one-sided triumph at home over Wooster Tuesday night. The Cougars captured their fifth-straight win by dumping Wooster 53-24 in a DI North crossover league clash.
Reed girls basketball drops season opener
The Reed girls basketball team led Douglas by as much as 13 midway through the second quarter Tuesday night but the wheels fell off the Gabby Williams-less train as the Raiders dropped their season opener 58-53.
Commentary: The case for Gorman
Bishop Gorman is the best prep football program in Nevada. The massive private school out of Las Vegas wrapped up its fifth consecutive state title Saturday, with its 48-14 win over Reed at Sam Boyd Stadium.
