Reed girls dump Hug
The Reed girls basketball team rolled from the jump, scoring the first 19 points of the game and never looking back in its 73-23 road victory at Hug Tuesday night.
Big third quarter lifts Hug boys over Reed
The Reed boys basketball team wanted to test itself against the North’s top teams to see where it stood. If the Raiders don’t right their ship quick, they’re not going to have a leg to stand on and they’ll find their 4-0 start in league play was wasted.
Sparks boys dispatch Fernley
The Fernley Vaqueros boast one of the top scorers in the Northern 3A in Cade Knutson. The bad news for Fernley was Knutson’s talented skill set was no secret to Sparks.
Reed boys sprint past Sparks
The Reed boys basketball team opened the season with a 23-point loss to Sparks at Carson High’s Capital City Classic, but that was without three of its starters.
North power Douglas rips Reed
While most teams were participating in tournaments over the winter break, the Reed boys basketball team stuck to practicing at home. After returning to the court for its first game action in over two weeks, Reed initially looked fine.
Sparks girls struggle in home loss to South Tahoe
Turnovers are a part of the game of basketball, and often they can tilt the game in favor of one team. On the rare occasion that a team turns the ball over more times than the amount of points it puts on the scoreboard, it is a near impossible task to overcome.
Cougars maul Lions
The Yerington Lions ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Spanish Springs Cougars Wednesday night. Yerington did get on the scoreboard first but unfortunately for the Lyon County school, that was the lone highlight of the night as Spanish Springs rolled to a 61-15 triumph in girls prep basketball action.
Spanish Springs boys dump Galena
Returning to league play for the first time since leaving for winter break, the Spanish Springs boys basketball team could have looked like it filled the time off by eating treats and snoozing. Luckily for the Cougars, they were able to shake off the rust while host Galena remained in hibernation, grabbing a 46-26 victory Wednesday evening.
Winter break can be a time when kids grow restless and want to get out and play. Luckily for local kids, the Reed girls basketball team has teamed up with the Jam On It Basketball Academy for a second straight year to offer kids a chance during the break to get out of the house while also learning the game of basketball.

Sparks knocks off Wooster, 59-42
Not many teams can earn the distinction of losing to all three Rail City schools in a single season due to a lack of common opponents, but the Wooster boys basketball squad achieved that feat Friday night.
