Rainiers top Aces 4-3
The Aces scratched across a run in the first and led for most of the afternoon, but three Tacoma home runs Sunday afternoon lifted the Rainiers to a 4-3 victory over Reno at Cheney Stadium.
The Friday night lights are set to turn on in five days, and with the season on the brink all three Rail City gridiron squads hit the field on Saturday for preseason scrimmages to try and work out some kinks before opening kickoff.
Aces blanked by Rainiers
TACOMA, Wash. — Reno broke up a no-hit bid in the top of the eighth, but Tacoma scored the game’s only runs a half-inning later Saturday night, as the Rainiers topped the Aces 2-0 in the series opener at Cheney Stadium.

RENO — Konrad Schmidt smashed a solo home run in the eighth inning to break-up the shutout bid, but an early Round Rock lead lifted the Express to a 14-1 victory over the Reno Aces Wednesday night at Aces Ballpark.

Reno Bighorns holding pre-tryout dance workshop Sunday
The Reno Bighorns are holding a pre-tryout dance workshop on Sunday, Aug. 19 for those interested in auditioning for the dance team this season. The workshop will take place at FIT Reno, located at 5301 Longley Lane from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m and costs $50, waiving the regular tryout fee.
