Actor Jack Wagner extended his lead with four birdies and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had one of the best rounds of the day to move into second place Saturday at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe.

A 14-run second inning provided more than enough offense for the Spanish Springs Cal Ripken League all-stars Wednesday night in the 10-year-old State Tournament opener. The offensive explosion broke an early deadlock and propelled Spanish Springs to a 21-6 romp over Sun Valley in the tournament opener for both teams at Gepford Park in Sun Valley.

After rolling to five straight mercy-rule victories to open the Nevada State Cal Ripken Tournament, most Spanish Springs fans were probably looking for another. That didn’t come, but a win did, which was good enough to give Spanish Springs a berths in the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament, which begins July 25th in Beaver, Utah.
