Lady Railroaders fall to Hawks
The Sparks girls basketball team took the court Friday night at home against Hug with a set of familiar faces making up its roster, but a new face standing on the sideline. Initially it looked as though the Railroaders would respond well to the changes at hand, but the same problems that have become a plague for the Railroaders surfaced again as the Hawks stormed their way to a 57-29 victory.
Sparks beats Damonte, Reed loses to Carson
After watching a 17-point lead slip away against Reed, the Sparks boys basketball team returned to action at the Capital Classic and got back in the win column, making sure not to make the same mistake a second straight day.

The Atwater Falcons were no match for the Spanish Springs Cougars Thursday night. Spanish Springs scored early and often en route to a 66-17 romp over its California foe on first day action of the sixth annual High Sierra Winter Challenge.

For a large majority of its game Thursday evening in the Capital Classic Tournament in Carson City, the Sparks boys basketball team held a lead over counterpart Reed High. Unfortunately for the Railroaders, the game was a 32-minute contest rather than 29.
Cougars nearly achieve perfection
The Spanish Springs wrestling team nearly reached perfection. In its High Desert League dual meet against Hug Wednesday night, the Cougars demolished the hosts 83-0, a single point away from the highest total of 84 that a team can score in a dual.

Cougar girls start fast, finish faster
The Spanish Springs girls basketball team didn’t play very well for eight minutes in the second quarter Tuesday night. The good news for the Cougars is they more than overwhelmed North Valleys in the other three quarters of the early season High Desert League affair. The end result was a 64-26 home romp by the SSHS crew.
Wolf Pack stumbles to loss against Boise
The Nevada football team wanted to end its regular season by sending rival Boise State home and out of the Mountain West Conference with a sour taste of its last two appearances at Mackay Stadium. Unfortunately for the Silver and Blue, a Hail Mary pass to end the game fell incomplete and there was no repeat of 2010 as the self-inflicted wounds that have harmed it all season plagued it again on Saturday afternoon.
